Swedish statement on Israeli decision on legalisation of illegal settlement outposts
Published
Sweden is deeply concerned by the approval by the Ministerial Committee of Legislation of Knesset in Israel to forward legislation to the Knesset that, if approved, would retroactively legalise settlement outposts on privately owned Palestinian land (Amona) in the West Bank.
The outposts contravenes both Israeli domestic law and international law, and seriously undermines the prospects of a two-state solution. It also opens a path towards legalising a large number of outposts. Sweden calls upon Israel not to pass this legislation.
