Maria Malmer Stenergard and Finland’s Foreign Minister host high-level foreign and security policy dialogue

On 8 April, Minister for Foreign Affairs Maria Malmer Stenergard and Finland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Elina Valtonen hosted Hanalys, the high-level foreign and security policy dialogue held at Villa Foresta on Lidingö, Stockholm. The conference brought together hundreds of Swedish and Finnish experts to discuss Ukraine, international law and economic security.

Hanalys is arranged annually by Hanaholmen, the cooperation and cultural centre for Sweden and Finland. This year, the event took place for the first time in Sweden, at Villa Foresta. Under the theme ‘Sweden and Finland: Navigating through an increasingly complex world’, the meeting focused on global support for Ukraine and international law, as well as economic security and the importance of open, rules-based trade.
Ms Malmer Stenergard and Ms Valtonen had a bilateral meeting in conjunction with the conference. Discussions covered current foreign affairs and security policy issues.

Hanaholmen is a Swedish-Finnish cooperation and cultural centre, located just outside Helsinki. The centre promotes political dialogue and cooperation between countries by arranging high-profile events and seminars that address current issues in all areas of society. Hanalys, which has been held since 2017, is an annual high-level dialogue forum where political decision-makers, researchers and experts can meet to discuss current foreign and security policy issues.
