Partnership group’s work reflected in assignment on accelerated electrification
To further accelerate the electrification of the transport sector, the Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute (VTI) was commissioned by the Government to help build knowledge in this area. This need has been clearly highlighted in the work of the Government’s strategic innovation partnership programme Climate neutral industry.

Annual report for state-owned enterprises 2020
The State is a significant company owner in Sweden. The portfolio of state-owned enterprises contains 46 fully and partially owned enterprises, of which two are listed. The State has a substantial responsibility to be an active and professional owner. The Government’s overall objective is for the enterprises to create value and, where applicable, to ensure that the specifically adopted public policy assignments are performed well.

New member joins Climate neutral industry
At the beginning of June, the Government appointed Östen Ekengren, IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute, as a new member of the Climate neutral industry partnership group. Östen Ekengren hopes to be able to contribute by strengthening collaboration with the export and innovation platform Smart City Sweden.

Sweden's climate policy framework
In 2017, Sweden’s Riksdag decided by a large political majority to introduce a climate policy framework with a climate act for Sweden. This framework is the most important climate reform in Sweden’s history and sets out implementation of the Paris Agreement in Sweden. By 2045, Sweden is to have zero net emissions of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.

State Ownership Policy and principles for state-owned enterprises 2020
The Government adopted this ownership policy for state-owned enterprises on 27 February 2020. This policy replaces the previous ownership policy adopted on 22 December 2016. The Government’s principles for corporate governance, remuneration and other terms of employment for senior officers of state-owned enterprises and external reporting in state-owned enterprises form part of the State Ownership Policy.

The Inquiry Chair on combination effects and assessing groups of chemicals has delivered its final report to the Government. The report is entitled Future chemical risk management – Accounting for combination effects and assessing chemicals in groups.

Sweden and India are taking the lead to transform the heavy industry sector towards a fossil free future
Heavy industry accounts for approximately 30 percent of global greenhouse gas emissions. In order to reach the goals in the Paris Agreement more must be done to tackle these emissions. It was in light of this that Sweden and India launched the leadership group for industry transition at the UN Climate Action Summit in New York this September. The group is open for both government and business leaders and aims to enable the transition of heavy industry towards net zero carbon emissions by 2050. Now it is time to go from words to action.
