Prime Minister Stefan Löfven to co-chair new UN commission on the future of work

Published

Prime Minister Stefan Löfven has accepted an invitation to co-chair the new Global Commission on the Future of Work with President of Mauritius Ameenah Gurib-Fakim. The Commission brings together some 20 experts from diverse regions of the world. It will examine the impacts of the revolutionary and long-term changes associated with the digital economy, climate change, demographic shifts and other factors. The Commission will publish recommendations for the creation of a more efficient labour market.

“The world is facing major challenges. But if we join forces, the opportunities are enormous. Technological advances and climate adaptation must be used as positive forces for innovation and new business ideas, new jobs with better conditions and a system to ensure that more people all around the world can share in the benefits of globalisation,” says Prime Minister Stefan Löfven.

Media representatives are invited to attend the launch of the Commission that will take place at ILO headquarters in Geneva on Monday 21 August at 15.00.
