The world’s energy ministers gather in the Öresund region

On 23–24 May, Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Norway, the European Commission and the Nordic Council of Ministers will host the Clean Energy Ministerial and Mission Innovation in Malmö and Copenhagen.

The theme of the third Mission Innovation (MI-3) and the ninth Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM9) is Energy Integration and Transition: towards a competitive and innovative low carbon economy. The focus is on developing and spreading clean energy technology for the needs of the future. The meetings will bring together energy ministers from the world's foremost energy nations, and representatives of business, research and academia, civil society and international organisations. They are working together to achieve the common goal of speeding up the transition to sustainable energy.

"Hosting these meetings is an important undertaking for Sweden, our Nordic neighbours and the European Commission to contribute to global efforts in sustainable energy systems. International research and innovation cooperation are key to achieving this goal and will greatly benefit Sweden," says Minister for Policy Coordination and Energy Ibrahim Baylan.

MI-3 in Malmö and CEM9 in Copenhagen will gather representatives from the governments of Argentina, Australia, Austria, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Mexico, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, South Korea, Sweden, the United Arab Emirates, the United Kingdom and the United States, as well as European Commission Vice-President for the Energy Union Maroš Šefčovič and European Commissioner for Climate Action and Energy Miguel Arias Cañete.
