Expo 2025 will take place from 13 April to 13 October in Osaka with the theme “Designing Future Society for Our Lives”. Sweden will take part in the event, with 14 May designated the “national day” for Sweden when the spotlight will be on the country. H.M. The King will lead the Swedish delegation, which will also include Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Benjamin Dousa together with representatives from Swedish business, Swedish public authorities, academia, research and creative industries.
The agenda for Sweden’s national day activities includes promoting Sweden, meetings with Japanese counterparts and cultural elements. Around 28 million visitors are expected to take part in Expo 2025.
“Sweden’s participation in Expo 2025 will create business opportunities for Swedish businesses while helping increase new investments in Sweden. It will also strengthen Sweden’s brand in Japan, which is a very important market and partner in an increasingly geopolitically challenging world,” notes Mr Dousa.
Sweden’s participation in the world expo and in the joint Nordic pavilion will focus on innovations and solutions for the green and digital transitions. It will also provide an opportunity to demonstrate the strategic partnership with Japan and further strengthen exchanges around research, students, culture and lifestyle issues. Swedish participation is a joint initiative between the state and business community that represents the largest promotional effort in Japan of the decade and offers major potential for business opportunities for Swedish businesses. Participation in Expo 2025 is a concrete expression of the focus on Asia that the government presented in its strategy for foreign trade, investment and global competitiveness.
