Paulina Brandberg leaves the Government

“It has been a great honour to take responsibility for issues surrounding gender equality and employment in the Government. I’m proud to have been part of making Sweden a more gender-equal country, not least through all the measures the Government is taking against men’s violence against women, intimate partner violence and honour-related violence and oppression,” Ms Brandberg says.

“My ministerial role has led to me being away from my family a great deal. We are now approaching an election campaign that will require stepping up a gear and thus even more time away from family. For that reason, I have chosen to leave my post as a minister,” adds Ms Brandberg. 

“Paulina Brandberg has worked incredibly hard for the Government and Sweden. I would like to thank her for her indefatigable work promoting freedom. With her background as a prosecutor combined with a clear liberal compass, she has pushed through important reforms to increase gender equality and counter honour-based violence and oppression,” says Minister for Education Johan Pehrson.

“I would like to thank Paulina Brandberg for her key efforts throughout these years, not least her work on men’s violence against women and honour-related violence and oppression,” says Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson. 

The Government will provide an update in the near future as to who will become the new Minister for Employment and Gender Equality.
