Published · Updated · Information material from Ministry of Employment
Human rights are universal and apply to everyone. They establish that all human beings, irrespective of country, culture and context, are born free and equal in dignity and rights. Democracy policy includes general elections, measures to strengthen and protect the individual’s opportunities for influence, and measures to promote and guarantee respect for human rights. Human rights, democracy and the rule of law will also permeate all Swedish foreign policy.
On 10–16 March, Minister for Gender Equality Paulina Brandberg took part in the 68th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW68), also known as the UN women’s commission, in New York. The theme of this year’s session was combating poverty and how institutions and financing can be strengthened from a gender equality perspective. Ms Brandberg held two policy speeches: Sweden’s policy speech and a policy speech for an LGBTI Core Group that includes Sweden.
