“This a show of strength for Sweden and reaffirms how attractive our country is as a place to invest. These investments will increase our competitiveness and innovation capacity, and pave the way for further investments,” says Mr Kristersson.

The investments include a training initiative to boost the AI skills of 250 000 people, beginners and experts alike. This training will be led by a committee of experts including representatives from higher education and the Swedish Public Employment Service. Microsoft will also expand its server halls in Sandviken, Gävle and Staffanstorp.

Last December, the Government appointed an AI commission led by Carl-Henric Svanberg, whose task is to enhance Sweden’s competitiveness in this field.
