About the Government’s work for a re-regulated gambling market
To bring order to the gambling market and strengthen protection for consumers, a new Gambling Act was introduced on 1 January 2019. The Act includes stronger regulation of gambling advertising and the introduction of a national licence system for gambling operators. The Government today adopted the Bill ‘A re-regulated gambling market’. The proposal will mean introducing a new gambling act and a licence system.

Government proposes new gambling act and new gambling tax act
The Government decided today to refer the proposal, ‘A re-regulated gambling market’, the Council on Legislation. A new gambling act and a new gambling tax act have been proposed. The new regulations will be designed as a licence system. It is proposed that the regulations enter into force on 1 January 2019.
