The task of the Swedish Accident Investigation Authority is to investigate serious civilian and military accidents and incidents. Relevant areas of investigation may include shipping, rail traffic, aviation, road traffic, landslides, fires and military operations. These investigations aim to establish what happened, why it happened and what can be done to prevent a similar event from happening again.
