Crisis preparedness objectives
The objectives of crisis preparedness specified by the Government are to:
- reduce the risk of accidents and crises that threaten our security; and
- safeguard people’s lives and health and also fundamental values such as democracy, the rule of law and human rights by maintaining vital public services and preventing or limiting damage to property and the environment when accidents and crisis situations occur.
Crisis preparedness efforts should also help reduce suffering and the consequences caused by serious accidents and disasters in other countries. These efforts are also a basic premise of civil defence activities.
