Government agencies responsible for sanctions
The Security Policy Department at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs coordinates Sweden’s sanctions policy. With regard to implementation of sanctions in Sweden, a number of government agencies are responsible for various tasks.
For example, Swedish Customs checks that Swedish exports are carried out according to sanctions, and the police investigate possible sanctions violations.
The National Board of Trade handles requests for exemptions on exports of certain goods or services covered by the sanctions against a certain country.
The Inspectorate of Strategic Products handles matters concerning dual-use products, equipment that can be used for internal repression and arms embargoes.
