The objectives of the integration policy

Foreign-born women and men should have the same obligations, rights and opportunities as the rest of the population to live their lives in freedom, dignity and independence within the Swedish community. This requires that those living long term in Sweden make an effort to become a part of the Swedish society and that the society both set requirements and provide opportunities for integration. Integration policy should contribute to social, cultural, economic, linguistic and democratic integration and, through education, improve the conditions for girls and boys from foreign backgrounds.
