New ambassadors from Tunisia, Greece, Romania and Laos

The ambassadors from Tunisia, Greece, Romania and Laos presented their letters of credence to HM The King on Thursday 15 October 2015 in a formal audience at the Royal Palace of Stockholm. A letter of credence is an authorisation issued by an ambassador’s head of state. By presenting letters of credence to Sweden’s head of state, the ambassador can, from that day, fully represent his or her country in Sweden.

H.E. Ms Fatma Omrani Chargui, Tunisia

Tunisia’s newly appointed Ambassador Fatma Omrani Chargui was born in 1970 and joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1996. Ms Chargui has been Chargé d’affaires at the Embassy of Tunisia in Stockholm since 2012. In recent years she has held the following posts:

2012–2015: Chargé d’affaires en pied at the Embassy of Tunisia to Sweden

2009–2012: Deputy Director, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tunis, responsible for relations with Germany, Austria, the Scandinavian countries and the Deauville Partnership

2005–2009: Desk Officer for Germany and Austria, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tunis

2000–2005: Embassy of the Republic of Tunisia in Rome, cultural and economic sections

H.E. Mr Dimitrios Touloupas, Greece

Greece’s newly appointed Ambassador Dimitrios Touloupas was born in 1961 and has served at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1984. He graduated from the Law School of the University of Athens. In recent years he has held the following posts:

2013–2015: Representative of Greece to the EU Political and Security Committee, Brussels

2009–2013: Director, A4 Directorate for Turkey, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Athens

2005–2009: Counsellor, Embassy of Greece to Turkey           

H.E. Mr Iulian Buga, Romania

Romania’s newly appointed Ambassador Iulian Buga was born in 1957 and has worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1991. Ambassador Buga’s recent posts include: 

2013–2015: Romania’s Ambassador to the United States

2009–2013: Romania’s Ambassador to Ireland

2007–2009: State Secretary for Political and Strategic Affairs, Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bucharest

2001–2007: Romania’s Ambassador to the Netherlands and Permanent Representative to the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, The Hague

H.E. Mr Bounpheng Saykanya, Laos

The newly appointed Ambassador of Laos Bounpheng Saykanya was born in 1955 and has served at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 1980. Most recently he has held the following posts:

2010–2013: Minister Counsellor, the Embassy and Permanent Mission of Laos to Belgium and the EU
