The declaration marks a key step in joint efforts to create a meeting place where Ukrainians in Sweden can obtain information, support and guidance on opportunities both in Sweden and Ukraine. The Hub will help strengthen social cohesion for Ukrainians in Sweden and facilitate their contact with Ukraine.

“Sweden’s support to Ukraine stretches beyond political, military and economic initiatives, and also includes strong engagement for the Ukrainian people. Many Ukrainians have sought safety in Sweden, and I hope that this Unity Hub for Ukrainians in Sweden can serve as a central meeting point for them. I’m proud that Sweden’s support to both Ukraine and Ukrainians who are here remains strong,” says Mr Forssell.

“We greatly appreciate the support of the Government of Sweden in advancing the establishment of the Unity Hub in Stockholm. Today around 47 000 Ukrainians in Sweden are under temporary protection. It is crucial for us to stay connected with our citizens and provide them with reliable information that enables informed decisions about their future, including the possibility of return. The establishment of a Unity Hub in Stockholm is an important step in this direction,” says Ms. Ilona Havronska.

Earlier this year, the Swedish Government decided to enable the introduction of the Hub, with the aim of it opening in the summer. The signing of the declaration confirms the continued and deepened cooperation between Sweden and Ukraine to support Ukrainians who are here in Sweden.
