Prime Minister to receive NATO Secretary General

On Thursday 21 May, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson will receive NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte for a bilateral meeting and joint visit focused on Sweden’s total defence, civil defence and resilience. In conjunction with the meeting, they will hold a joint press briefing in Revinge, Skåne.

On 21–22 May, Sweden will host the Meeting of NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs in Helsingborg. Hosting the meeting is an expression of Sweden’s ambition be an active and constructive NATO Ally. In connection with the Helsingborg meeting, Mr Rutte will meet with Mr Kristersson bilaterally and visit the Swedish Civil Defence and Resilience Agency training centre in Revinge. Minister for Defence Pål Jonson and Minister for Civil Defence Carl-Oskar Bohlin will also take part.

The aim of the visit is to exhibit Sweden’s total defence capability, with a focus on civil defence and resilience. During the visit, Mr Rutte and Mr Kristersson will be given a demonstration of Sweden’s capability to manage threats from the air. They will also observe exercises related to civilian-military cooperation and public-private collaboration within Sweden’s total defence. 

Practical information for the media

In conjunction with the meeting, Mr Kristersson and Mr Rutte will hold a joint press briefing in Revinge. For representatives of the media who wishes to attend the press briefing, advance registration using the form below is required no later than 12.00 CET on Tuesday 19 May. Attendance is subject to available space.

Venue: Pre-registered journalists can attend in person. Note that transport by bus to the venue will be arranged for journalists with approved accreditation. 

Practical information: Advance registration using the form below is obligatory. Please provide your name, the name of your editorial office and the capacity in which you wish to attend (reporter or photographer). Confirm that you have valid press credentials and provide the name of the issuing organisation. You must present your press credentials on entry.

Transport will be arranged for accredited members of the media, with departure from Helsingborg two hours before the press conference begins. More information will be provided after accreditation has been confirmed. Attendance is subject to available space.
