On 21 December 2023, the Swedish Government took the decision to phase out Swedish development assistance to Mali and on 20 June 2024 took the decision to close the Swedish Embassy in Bamako.
The Swedish Government has noted the Malian Government’s remarkable decision to urge Sweden’s Ambassador to leave the country.
The Swedish Government is now reviewing what measures should be taken as a result of this event.
Mali does not have a diplomatic mission in Stockholm.
