Statement from the Ministry for Foreign Affairs regarding the Global Sumud Flotilla

Published

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs is following developments around the Global Sumud Flotilla, in which approximately 15 Swedes are travelling, with increasing concern.

The Ministry for Foreign Affairs notes that Israel has publicly communicated its intentions to maintain the blockade off the Gaza coast, which means that Israel will prevent the flotilla from reaching its destination.

For 10 years, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs has advised against all travel to Gaza and urges Swedes to follow that advice. This means: do not travel there under any circumstances. The travel advisory is a strong signal that the security situation is serious and that individuals should consider refraining from travel. Sweden is not able to provide consular support at sea.
