On 16–18 March, Minister for Foreign Affairs Maria Malmer Stenergard visited Texas together with HRH The Crown Princess and a business delegation. During the visit, Sweden’s new Consulate-General in Houston was inaugurated.
Texas is the world’s eighth largest economy and a growing centre for research and innovation. The new Consulate-General will play an important role in developing contacts and increasing trade and investment exchange between Sweden and Texas.
In meetings with local decision-makers, the business sector and academia, Ms Malmer Stenergard discussed enhanced cooperation, particularly in the areas of space, emerging technologies, energy and life sciences.
Around 20 companies, universities and industry organisations made up the Team Sweden delegation that Business Sweden organised on behalf of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs. The business delegation enjoyed a broad programme, giving participants the opportunity to explore potential forms of cooperation in their respective sectors.
