Prime Minister receives President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier

Germany is Sweden’s most important trading partner, and the world’s fourth-largest economy. On Wednesday 6 May, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson received Germany’s Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Stockholm for a meeting on regional security policy, total defence and cooperation between Sweden and Germany.

Sweden and Germany are likeminded on many issues and have broad bilateral cooperation. During the President’s visit, the leaders discussed regional security, total defence and how to further enhance the two countries’ already excellent relations. They also discussed support to Ukraine, which is a top priority for both countries. Sweden and Germany are among the countries that contribute most to Ukraine’s defence against Russia’s military aggression.
