The third barrier to crime – criminal careers must be stopped
Published
Work related to people involved in crime requires different types of efforts by several societal actors. These efforts need to reach more people – children, young people and adults – and the content needs to be of high quality and based on knowledge about good practices.
According to the Government, efforts to prevent recidivism need to be further developed. Targeted efforts are needed to ensure that individuals who persistently commit offences stop doing so to prevent more people from becoming victims of crime, but also to avoid the extensive financial costs resulting from crime. Every person who leaves their life of crime behind is thus a benefit for individuals and society.
