Stricter conditions for family member immigration

The conditions for family member immigration will be stricter. The Government intends to limit the possibility of exemptions from the maintenance requirements for family member immigration in certain cases, such as for those who are eligible for subsidiary protection.

The Government also intends to examine the maintenance requirements and other conditions for family member immigration based on stricter conditions for granting residence permits on grounds of personal ties. For relatives who have a residence permit in Sweden on asylum-related grounds, the conditions must not be more generous than the minimum level required under EU law.
