Minister for Defence Pål Jonson to visit Poland and take part in the informal meeting of EU defence ministers in Warsaw

On 1–3 April, Minister for Defence Pål Jonson will visit Poland. On 1 April, Mr Jonson will participate in a formal ceremony for the Swedish contribution to Air Policing. On 2 April, Mr Jonson will take part in a high-level conference on the White Paper on the future of European defence, and on 2–3 April, Mr Jonson will represent Sweden at the informal meeting of EU defence ministers.

On 1 April, Mr Jonson will take part in a formal handover for the Swedish contribution to Air Policing together with his Polish counterpart, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz. 

On 2 April, Mr Jonson will take part in a high-level conference on the White Paper for European Defence and the ReArm Europe Plan/Readiness 2030. The conference is organised by the Polish Presidency of the Council of the European Union. The purpose is to exchange ideas on joint solutions that can ensure Europe’s long-term defence and security. 

The informal meeting of EU defence ministers will take place in Warsaw on 2–3 April, as Poland holds the Presidency of the Council of the European Union for the first half of 2025. The defence ministers will discuss the newly published White Paper for European Defence Readiness 2030 and the EU’s military support to Ukraine. The meeting of defence ministers will be the first time the White Paper is discussed at ministerial level. Discussions on EU military support to Ukraine are expected to focus on how the EU can collectively keep up a high level of ambition for its joint support.
