A new initiative is launched today during the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Italy. The Rome Declaration for Science, Research and Innovation in Ukraine will support the reconstruction and modernisation of Ukraine’s science and research ecosystem. Sweden is one of the founding members to the initiative.
The declaration aims, among other things, to support Ukrainian scientists and innovators, for example through joint research projects, and to support Ukraine’s integration into the European Research Area.
– Sweden stands firmly by Ukraine and the Ukrainians. The support for Ukrainian scientists sends a clear signal of our steadfast support. The EU:s research collaboration will be strengthened with Ukraine’s participation, says Minister for Upper Secondary School, Higher Education and Research Lotta Edholm.
– The Swedish government works for a Ukraine that stands strong today, tomorrow and on the path towards a future EU membership. At the Ukraine Recovery Conference, I am proud to represent Sweden as one of the countries behind the initiative to strengthen research collaboration between the EU and Ukraine. This is not only an investment in the reconstruction of Ukraine, but in Europe’s innovation capacity for a long time ahead, says Minister for EU Affairs Jessica Rosencrantz.
