Sweden becomes member of Global Coalition on Telecommunications
Published
Sweden has become a member of the Global Coalition on Telecommunications (GCOT). It is a global coalition of countries that jointly drive policy development in telecommunications. In connection to Sweden joining the coalition, the members of GCOT launched Security and Resilience Principles for 6G, which Sweden endorses.
Sweden’s membership in the GCOT was announced during the Mobile World Congress currently underway in Barcelona. In connection with the congress, the GCOT has launched the GCOT 6G Security and Resilience Principles, which Sweden endorses.
The next generation of mobile networks – 6G – is taking shape. Trends such as AI, cloud, integrated sensing and communication, open interfaces, and the integration of terrestrial and satellite networks call for a fresh examination of the security and resilience of mobile networks.
Sweden endorses principles for secure and resilient 6G
In this context, the governments of the GCOT are launching the 6G Security and Resilience Principles. The Principles reflect insights and best practice from industry, and have already received broad industry endorsement, including from leading companies such as Ericsson.
“Sweden will continue to be a world leader in wireless systems. We believe the principles for 6G that GCOT is now launching could support the industry’s efforts to develop secure and resilient 6G standards and for 6G research and development,” says Minister for Public Administration Erik Slottner.
The GCOT members will continue to explore possible future expansion of the Coalition with like-minded partners.
