“Today, I had the honour of welcoming Iceland’s president, Halla Tómasdóttir to the Swedish Government Offices. Together we discussed regional cooperation, the transatlantic link and our steadfast support for Ukraine. Since Sweden’s entry into NATO, Sweden and Iceland are more intertwined than ever. This year, Sweden and Iceland celebrate 85 years of diplomatic relations”, says Mr Kristersson.

At their bilateral meeting, Mr Kristersson and Ms Tómasdóttir discussed Sweden and Iceland’s cooperation to continue supporting Ukraine, strengthen the two countries’ joint resilience and promote trade and investment. A joint press conference was held after the meeting. To watch the recording of the press conference, see the link under ‘Shortcuts’.

During the State Visit on 6–8 May, Ms Tómasdóttir visited a number of organisations together with Iceland’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Þorgerður Katrín Gunnarsdóttir and Minister of Health Alma Möller. A number of Swedish Government ministers took part in these visits and in bilateral meetings in connection with the State Visit.
