Mats Persson and Lotta Edholm visit London
On 26–27 September, Minister for Education Mats Persson and Minister for Schools Lotta Edholm will visit London, where they will meet with their British counterparts. The visit is an opportunity for Sweden and the United Kingdom to exchange knowledge about education issues and strengthen relations between the two countries.

Sweden and the United States strengthen energy research cooperation
Research and innovation promote progress in the energy sector. Minister for Education Mats Persson today signed an implementation agreement for energy research cooperation with the United States. The agreement was signed in the Reactor Hall at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, where research reactor R1 – Sweden’s first nuclear reactor – contributed to research between 1954 and 1970.

Lund Declaration on Maximising the Benefits of Research Data

Mats Persson and Lotta Edholm to deliver opening addresses at EU education meetings in Sweden
During the week of 20–24 March, several meetings focusing on education will be held as part of the Swedish Presidency of the Council of the EU. Skills supply, the green transition and education for Ukrainian pupils are among the agenda items. Minister for Education Mats Persson and Minister for Schools Lotta Edholm will both deliver opening addresses.

Updated Swedish strategy to combat antibiotic resistance
The Swedish Government has adopted an updated strategy to combat antibiotic resistance (AMR). The overarching goal continues to be preserving the possibility of effective treatment of bacterial infections in humans and animals. The strategy will apply until the end of 2023.

Exemption from provisions on application and tuition fees at higher education institutions for certain British citizens after Brexit
As citizens of a state within the European Union, British citizens are exempt from application and tuition fees for studies at higher education institutions in Sweden. If the United Kingdom leaves the EU on 30 March without a withdrawal agreement, British citizens will become subject to the rules applying to third-country nationals. On 21 March 2019, the Government decided that a temporary exemption from the provisions on application and tuition fees at higher education institutions will apply for certain British citizens so as to mitigate the consequences of withdrawal.

Barents: 25 years of successful cooperation
The Barents cooperation has laid the foundation for far-reaching people-to-people cooperation and high-level political dialogue in the European Arctic. Sigbritt Karlsson takes a seat on the National Innovation Council
Sigbritt Karlsson is President of KTH Royal Institute of Technology. She is now also a member of the Government’s National Innovation Council, led by Prime Minister Stefan Löfven. Ms Karlsson took part in her first Council meeting on Monday 13 February.
