Build robustness against unlawful and undue influence

Published

A high level of trust in public institutions has been created and maintained through institutional stability and integrity in public administration. However, there is an increasing and worrying trend that the performance of official duties in both the public and private sectors is being challenged, and that organised crime is more distinctly present.

Unlawful and undue influence are tools for organised crime to take control and gain benefits. Criminals are dependent on people who, in their occupational role, make decisions in government agencies or issue certificates.

Unauthorised and undue influence, infiltration and corruption have no place in Swedish society. Awareness and knowledge of these problems need to be improved, and initiatives implemented to defend and uphold the values that form the foundation of a well-functioning society. This work is cross-sectoral and affects all policy areas.

Objective

Unlawful and undue influence have no place in Swedish society, neither in the public nor the private sector.

Work towards this objective includes:

  • safeguarding the integrity of public decision-making
  • preventing threats from the inside in the form of insiders and infiltrators.
