Minister for Defence Pål Jonson to visit Paris

On Wednesday 26 March, Minister for Defence Pål Jonson will travel to Paris for bilateral talks with France’s Minister of the Armed Forces Sébastien Lecornu.
Their discussions will focus on regional security issues, continued support to Ukraine, current EU and NATO issues and materiel cooperation between Sweden and France.
Sweden and France have good bilateral relations in the area of defence and their cooperation has deepened. Both countries are working to promote innovation capacity in order to strengthen their respective defence industries.

Swedish-French ministerial Declaration of Intent on defence
On 31 January 2024, Mr Jonson and Mr Lecornu signed a ministerial Declaration of Intent in the area of defence in connection with French President Emmanuel Macron’s State Visit to Sweden on 30–31 January of the same year.
