A Spring Budget that supports the economy and increases security

Published

The Spring Budget, or the 2025 Spring Fiscal Policy Bill and 2025 Spring Amending Budget, is being presented today. In the Spring Budget, which is based on an agreement between the Government and the Sweden Democrats, the Government is using the strength of the Swedish economy to strengthen economic development and counteract the negative effects of the prevailing economic uncertainty.

There is a great deal of uncertainty around the world. The US decision on significantly raised tariffs has caused concern. This has resulted in increased uncertainty regarding global economic growth, which in turn has caused turbulence in financial markets. However, Sweden is on stable economic ground and able to take further action should the need arise.

This year’s Spring Budget contains proposals for measures amounting to SEK 11.5 billion* and is aimed at navigating Sweden through the weakened state of the economy, strengthening its defence capability, increasing security and continuing the largest-ever offensive against organised crime in Sweden’s history. At the same time, the Government continues to support Ukraine.

“In uncertain and worrying times, Sweden stands strong. With world class public finances, the Government can submit a Spring Budget that supports the economy while investing in safety and security. Step by step we are building a stronger and safer Sweden not only for today, but also for our children and grandchildren,” says Minister for Finance Elisabeth Svantesson.

* The SEK 11.5 billion include proposals in the Spring Amending Budget for 2025 (prop. 2024/25:99) as well as an additional amending budget for 2025 on temporarily increasing the subsidy rate for building repairs (prop. 2024/25:156).
