‘The Nordics together – Nordic value and cohesion in troubled times’ will be the focus of discussions when the annual Session of the Nordic Council takes place in Sweden’s Riksdag on 27–30 October. Several ministers will represent the Government.
“The Nordic countries enjoy a unique and deep cooperation, and we take the lead on issues that are important to people in the Nordic region, such as support to Ukraine and the work to make Europe a better place for innovation and entrepreneurship. The Session of the Nordic Council is a good opportunity to discuss the continued work to bring our countries closer together and achieve the goal of becoming the most sustainable and integrated region by 2030,” says Minister for EU Affairs with responsibility for Nordic affairs Jessica Rosencrantz.
The Session is the largest political summit in the Nordic region, bringing together parliament speakers, prime ministers, heads of government, ministers for Nordic cooperation and ministers and parliamentarians from across the Nordic region every year.
Representing the Swedish Government are Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, Minister for EU Affairs with responsibility for Nordic affairs Jessica Rosencrantz, Minister for Foreign Affairs Maria Malmer Stenergard, Minister for Defence Pål Jonson, Minister for Climate and the Environment Romina Pourmokhtari and Minister for Culture Parisa Liljestrand.
During the Session, ministers will all have separate meetings with the Nordic Council, as well as individual meetings with their Nordic counterparts.
A detailed programme for the week of the Session is available on the Nordic Council website. Large parts of the programme will be live-streamed on the Riksdag website and can also be viewed once the event is over.
For more information on the ministers’ participation, please contact their respective press secretaries.
