On 16 June 2026, Minister for International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Benjamin Dousa presented the Government’s 2025 Cultural and Creative Industries Export Prize. This year’s award went to Hazelight Studios, the internationally successful video game company founded by Josef Fares. The Rising Star Award was presented to Hodakova, one of Sweden’s most innovative fashion houses.

“The cultural and creative industries are one of Sweden’s strongest assets internationally. They create jobs, drive exports and shape the image of Sweden around the world. Hazelight Studios is an excellent example of how Swedish entrepreneurship can reach a global audience and engage millions of people,” says Mr Dousa.
The Government’s Cultural and Creative Industries Export Prize is awarded to highlight achievements in Swedish exports and the promotion of Sweden as an innovative and creative country. It is awarded to an actor who sets a particularly good example in their industry, contributing to Swedish exports and promoting Sweden internationally.
"I am incredibly grateful. I have been given my whole life and a career in Sweden, so it is especially great to be rewarded here in my country", says Josef Fares, founder of Hazelight Studios.
This year, in addition to the award and a diploma, the winner receives a vase designed by glass artist Hanna Hansdotter, who won the Rising Star Award in 2023.
The other nominees for this year’s Cultural and Creative Industries Export Prize were Green Furniture Concept, Gustaf Westman and Josephine Bornebusch.
Hodakova, the fashion brand founded by Ellen Hodakova Larsson, was presented this year’s Rising Star Award.
“Ellen Hodakova Larsson’s creations have been worn by superstars and have attracted attention both in Sweden and internationally. Her ability to create fashion from unexpected materials has made Hodakova an international name with strong export potential. Creators like her enhance Sweden’s reputation as a fashion nation,” says Mr Dousa.
The jury’s citations
