The UN system plays a key role in delivering country-level development assistance – including in Ukraine – to contribute to the peace, security and stabilisation of conflict-affected countries and the effective implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the Paris Agreement. However, all countries bear a high degree of individual responsibility for creating favourable conditions for sustainable growth.
The Government sees good opportunities to reinforce the implementation and funding of the Sustainable Development Goals by promoting synergies between development assistance, trade, technological innovations and innovative funding solutions, and by taking advantage of the business sector’s role in the green and digital transitions. This synergistic approach is the focus of the Government’s work on Financing for Development in support of the Global Goals.
Through strategic action in the UN system and in relation to UN organisations, Sweden is ensuring that the Government’s priorities have an impact. We direct our funding to organisations whose goals and activities align with the Government’s priorities, and which deliver effectively at country level.
