Declaration adopted during Nordic-Ukrainian Summit in Stockholm
Published
Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson hosted a Nordic-Ukrainian Summit in Stockholm today, with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the heads of state and government of the other Nordic countries taking part.
The declaration adopted during the Summit underscores the Nordic countries’ continued civilian and military support to Ukraine. The declaration builds largely on the bilateral agreements on security cooperation that all the Nordic countries have now signed with Ukraine.
The aim of this security cooperation is to create better conditions for Ukraine’s long-term defence planning against Russia’s aggression and its development of modern armed forces.
The bilateral agreements on security cooperation cover areas such as reconstruction and support for accountability for Russia’s crimes in and against Ukraine. The agreements also include support for Ukraine’s reforms and preparations for future membership of the EU and NATO.
In the declaration, the five Nordic countries also confirm their participation in the forthcoming Summit on Peace in Switzerland on 15-16 June.
The Nordic countries’ support to Ukraine thus far totals more the EUR 17 billion.
