Ulf Kristersson to hold joint press conference with Prime Minister of Poland on bilateral submarine cooperation

On Monday 29 June, Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson will travel with several ministers to Gdynia, Poland for intergovernmental consultations. The focus will be on strengthened bilateral cooperation between Sweden and Poland, specifically with regard to regional security and defence. Mr Kristersson and Prime Minister of Poland Donald Tusk will hold a joint press conference during which they will announce a new development in the countries’ bilateral submarine cooperation.
Mr Kristersson will travel to Gdynia together with Minister for Defence Pål Jonson, Minister for Foreign Affairs Maria Malmer Stenergard, Minister for Culture Parisa Liljestrand, Minister for Infrastructure and Housing Andreas Carlson and Minister for EU Affairs Jessica Rosencrantz. This will be the first time intergovernmental consultations are held between Sweden and Poland. The starting point for the consultations is the strategic partnership between Sweden and Poland and their close cooperation as NATO Allies and EU Member States and on the defence of the Baltic Sea region.
The aim of the visit is to further strengthen cooperation between Sweden and Poland. In conjunction with the talks, a new development concerning the countries’ submarine cooperation will be announced. A new development concerning the advancement of bilateral cooperation on security and defence in the Baltic Sea will also be announced.
Following the consultations, Mr Kristersson and Mr Tusk will hold a joint press conference. It will start at 12.30 and will be livestreamed on the YouTube channel of the Office of the Prime Minister of Poland.
