Minister for Foreign Affairs Maria Malmer Stenergard to participate in Swedish State Visit to Singapore
On 19–21 November, Minister for Foreign Affairs Maria Malmer Stenergard will take part in the State Visit by TM The King and Queen to Singapore. During the Visit, Ms Malmer Stenergard will meet with her Singaporean counterpart and other government representatives, and take part in security and trade-related talks. She will also give a speech at the International Institute for Strategic Studies, a think tank. The King and Queen will have meetings with the President and Prime Minister of Singapore, which Ms Malmer Stenergard will also attend.

Their Majesties The King and Queen will pay a State Visit to Singapore on 19–21 November 2024 at the invitation of President Tharman Shanmugaratnam.

Sweden elected to International Maritime Organization Council
Sweden has been elected to the Council of the UN’s International Maritime Organization (IMO). This will give Sweden greater opportunity to influence global shipping and push for safer, more climate-friendly maritime traffic with reduced emissions.

Yesterday evening, the Government received the alarming news that two Swedes were killed in a terrorist attack in Brussels. The attack appears to have been aimed at Sweden and Swedish interests. Our thoughts are with the deceased and their relatives.

Sweden to send temporary bridges to Slovenia following torrential rainfall
Slovenia has been hit by torrential rainfall this month, with downpours destroying a number of bridges. The Swedish Government has therefore decided that the Swedish Transport Administration will donate three temporary bridges to Slovenia.

Sweden is running for a seat on the International Maritime Organization (IMO) Council. The Council is the IMO’s executive body comprising 40 members. The candidacy is for the 2024–2025 term.
