Minister for EU Affairs Jessica Rosencrantz is visiting Albania and Montenegro on 10–12 March to meet political representatives and discuss their reform efforts towards EU membership.

“Supporting candidate countries on their path to EU membership is an investment in security and stability on our continent, which has been made even more clear since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Albania and Montenegro are moving forward rapidly with the necessary reform work to become EU members. The Government has been supporting the countries in the Western Balkans with their reform efforts for a long time, not least with strong reform support,” says Ms Rosencrantz.

The trip begins in Albania, where the Minister for EU Affairs will meet several representives from the Albanian government, including the Prime Minister Edi Rama, Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Igli Hasani, and Chief Negotiator on EU membership Majlinda Dhuka. Ms Rosencrantz will also visit the Special Structure against Corruption and Organized Crime and meet with representatives of the Balkan Investigative Reporting Network.

In Montenegro, Ms Rosencrantz will meet with the President of Montenegro Jakov Milatovic and Prime Minister Milojko Spajić.  The EU Minister will also take part in a panel discussion on EU integration organised by the Belgrade Centre for Security Policy.
