Ministry of Employment

The Ministry of Employment is responsible for issues concerning the labour market, labour law and health and safety at work. The Ministry is also responsible for matters concerning integration, efforts to counter exclusion and work on gender equality, human rights at national level, strengthening LGBTIQ people’s rights and combating racism and discrimination.

  • Paulina Brandberg hosts Nordic-Baltic ministerial meeting on gender equality

    Gender-based violence and honour-based violence and oppression were central themes as Nordic and Baltic gender equality ministers met in Stockholm on 27 November. The meeting took place in connection with a meeting in the Nordic Council of Ministers for Gender Equality and LGBTI earlier in the day.

  • Prevent and combat men’s violence against women

    One in three women around the world is subjected to physical or sexual violence in her lifetime. The International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (Orange Day) draws attention to violence around the world. Men’s violence against women is a serious societal problem. The Government has adopted an extensive action programme with 132 measures to enhance efforts to combat men’s violence against women, domestic violence, honour-based violence and oppression, and prostitution and human trafficking.
