To reach net zero emissions by 2045, Sweden must electrify its transport sector. In the Spring Amending Budget, the Government and the Sweden Democrats intend to allocate more funding to expand the electric vehicle premium and to increase government agencies’ purchasing of fossil-free alternatives.

(New version) The prevailing security situation is more serious than it has been in several decades, and Russia constitutes a multi-dimensional threat to Sweden. The Government is therefore implementing historic investments in defence. Together with previous budgetary expansions, appropriations increase by SEK 26.6 billion in the Budget Bill for 2026. This corresponds to an increase of 18 per cent over 2025. These proposals and increases broadly strengthen Sweden’s defence capability.

The Spring Budget, or the 2025 Spring Fiscal Policy Bill and 2025 Spring Amending Budget, is being presented today. In the Spring Budget, which is based on an agreement between the Government and the Sweden Democrats, the Government is using the strength of the Swedish economy to strengthen economic development and counteract the negative effects of the prevailing economic uncertainty.

On 15 April, the Government presented its Spring Amending Budget. In the Budget, the Government intends to utilise the strength of the Swedish economy to enhance its growth and offset the negative effects of the prevailing economic uncertainty.

The Swedish Government has presented its largest military support package to Ukraine to date, valued at almost SEK 16 billion. Ukraine has requested capabilities related to air defence, artillery, satellite communication, and naval capabilities. Together with the support package announced earlier this year, Swedish support to Ukraine amounts to approximately SEK 29.5 billion in 2025. Sweden’s military support since 2022 thus totals about SEK 80 billion.

SEK 25 billion to strengthen military defence; an additional SEK 16.5 billion to increased 2025 ‘Ukraine framework’; and a SEK 96 million package of targeted measures to counter hybrid threats. These are the proposals the Government will present in the forthcoming Spring Amending Budget.
